Who we are

idataraya is a Malaysian software company. We design, build and then operate the systems our clients run their organisations on, across payments, healthcare, retail, property and the public sector.

The engineers who design and build a system are the ones who keep it running afterwards. That is the shape of the whole company, and it is why the roles here look the way they do.

The team

Enterprise engineering. Discovery, architecture, delivery and run for the systems clients operate on.

About the role

On smaller systems one engineer carries a feature from the schema to the screen. You get the whole path, and the responsibility that comes with it.

What you will do

  • Take features end to end: data model, API, interface and release.
  • Decide where logic belongs rather than following a handover.
  • Work directly with the client contact on what the feature has to do.
  • Operate what you ship.

What you will bring

  • Real experience on both sides of the stack, not a preference for one with exposure to the other.
  • Comfort with SQL and schema design.
  • Enough judgement to keep a small system small.
  • Interest in the domain, since you will be the one asking the client questions.

What we offer

  • Ownership of real systems from the first architecture session through to live operation, rather than a slice of someone else's design.
  • Direct contact with the people using what you build, with no account layer in between.
  • Work delivered in two to four week increments, demonstrated and accepted before the next one starts.
  • More than twenty production engines underneath the client systems, so the same problem is rarely solved twice.

We consider every applicant on what they have built and how they work. Tell us about your experience in your own words, and we will come back to you either way.
