Who we are

idataraya is a Malaysian software company. We design, build and then operate the systems our clients run their organisations on, across payments, healthcare, retail, property and the public sector.

The engineers who design and build a system are the ones who keep it running afterwards. That is the shape of the whole company, and it is why the roles here look the way they do.

The team

Enterprise engineering. Discovery, architecture, delivery and run for the systems clients operate on.

About the role

You build and maintain the services behind client systems: the APIs the interface calls, the integrations with third parties, and the scheduled work that keeps data moving. These systems are live, so the work has real users attached.

What you will do

  • Build API endpoints and background jobs against a data model you help shape.
  • Integrate with third party systems and handle the cases where they fail or go quiet.
  • Write the tests that make a fortnightly release boring.
  • Pick up production issues on the systems your team runs.

What you will bring

  • Commercial experience with a server-side language and a relational database.
  • Comfort reading someone else's code before changing it.
  • An eye for the failure cases, not only the happy path.
  • Clear written English, since much of the work is agreeing behaviour in writing.

What we offer

  • Ownership of real systems from the first architecture session through to live operation, rather than a slice of someone else's design.
  • Direct contact with the people using what you build, with no account layer in between.
  • Work delivered in two to four week increments, demonstrated and accepted before the next one starts.
  • More than twenty production engines underneath the client systems, so the same problem is rarely solved twice.

We consider every applicant on what they have built and how they work. Tell us about your experience in your own words, and we will come back to you either way.
