Who we are
idataraya is a Malaysian software company. We design, build and then operate the systems our clients run their organisations on, across payments, healthcare, retail, property and the public sector.
The engineers who design and build a system are the ones who keep it running afterwards. That is the shape of the whole company, and it is why the roles here look the way they do.
The team
Payments and acceptance. QR and card rails, terminals, settlement files and reconciliation.
About the role
You build point of sale software for counters that cannot stop trading. Everything about the design follows from that: speed, offline behaviour, and an end of day that always balances.
What you will do
- Build and maintain point of sale features across tender, returns, discounts and end of day.
- Keep the interface fast enough for someone serving a queue.
- Integrate with peripherals, payments and the back office.
- Handle upgrades at live sites without stopping trade.
What you will bring
- Experience with retail, hospitality or similar transactional software.
- Respect for the operator's speed over the developer's convenience.
- Attention to rounding, tax and the arithmetic that has to be exact.
- Experience supporting software once it is in a shop.
What we offer
- Ownership of real systems from the first architecture session through to live operation, rather than a slice of someone else's design.
- Direct contact with the people using what you build, with no account layer in between.
- Work delivered in two to four week increments, demonstrated and accepted before the next one starts.
- More than twenty production engines underneath the client systems, so the same problem is rarely solved twice.
We consider every applicant on what they have built and how they work. Tell us about your experience in your own words, and we will come back to you either way.
